After one doozy of a winter, let’s take a moment to welcome spring with open arms. Ahh spring. Finally. We’ve eagerly counted down the days to this season of renewal, rebirth, and rejuvenation. Crane’s Mill Residents Enjoy Morning Exercise Classes During Winter Months

Residents at our Essex County, New Jersey retirement community enjoy the benefit of exercise classes that are a short, indoor walk from their homes. Dance class, water aerobics, tai chi, and yoga are just a few of the classes offered each day to Crane’s Mill residents. The classes are led by experts in senior exercise, and provide a great service to our residents—they are able to choose to exercise when they like, stay in shape regardless of the weather, and can do it all without even having to go outside! Did you know? The Weather Channel now names its winter storms. This season, we’ve had Hercules, Maximus, and Nika. At Crane’s Mill Retirement Community, we’ve been naming winter storms for years. We call them “NO BIG DEAL.” Like most of us, this author will remember Winter 2013-2014 as a snowy, icy, and freezing cold season. January is National Thank You Month

After a season of giving and receiving, it’s nice to take a moment to say ‘thanks’ to our family and friends. At Crane’s Mill retirement community in Essex County, NJ, we have a lot to be thankful for. In January, notoriously known as the coldest of winter months here in New Jersey, it’s nice to know that it has been christened “National Thank You Month.” It’s curiously placed, as Thanksgiving is not too far in our rear-view-mirrors, but we do see its merit—the holidays were filled with the spoils of presents, meals, desserts, entertainment, and much more, so perhaps January …Read More »

Crane’s Mill Residents Enjoy Active, Healthy Days with Friends While Northern New Jersey Faces Coldspell

While the Northeast copes with lows in the teens, Crane’s Mill residents enjoy highs with friends. As late January rears it’s ugly head here in Northern New Jersey, our residents’ social lives are heating up! They are staying active, healthy and engaged with one another and the friendly staff here at Crane’s Mill. This morning, our Activities Director lead a fun morning exercise class in Hinman Hall. Located in Towne Square, Hinman Hall is a short, indoor walk from every Crane’s Mill apartment, so it’s no wonder that the class was very well-attended. Crane’s Mill on the Move: Residents Take Trips, Stay Active All December Long

Each month, we enjoy reading the resident-produced MillStream newsletter. In addition to brimming with fun articles and and updates from around the community, the MillStream features a calendar complete with each day’s events and activities. Included are such standards as daily exercise classes, weekly happy hour in The Cherry Blossom Lounge, and of course every Friday there is Trail Walking with the wonderful Mike Mazur. You will also find special events and trips. For instance, just yesterday a group of residents boarded a Crane’s Mill bus en route to Lancaster, Pennsylvania for “Christmas in Lancaster.” Attendees enjoyed “a visit to …Read More »
