Crane’s Mill News – A Look Back at 2014

Crane’s Mill produced plenty of news-worthy items in 2014. Here’s a look back at some of the stories from Northern New Jersey’s Premier Retirement Community. In 2014, we had some amazing new staff members join our team. Colleen Frankenfield was named the new President and CEO of Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey, our parent organization. Executive Chef Arthur Marston joined Crane’s Mill, bringing a fresh outlook on menu creation and meal preparation and presentation. Lutheran Social Ministries and Crane’s Mill Attend LeadingAge Conference

Key team members from Crane’s Mill Retirement Community and our parent organization Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey are in Nashville for the annual LeadingAge convention! LeadingAge, a group consisting of 6,000 not-for-profit organizations whose mission is to expand the possibilities of aging, holds an annual conference to bring together and educate its members on the latest trends, opportunities, and challenges in services for older adults. Crane’s Mill Welcomes New Executive Chef

Chef Arthur Marston has been named new Executive Chef of Crane’s Mill, a continuing care retirement community in West Caldwell, NJ. A Certified Executive Chef and Certified Culinary Administrator by the American Culinary Federation, Chef Arthur brings with him a wide range of experience and a fresh outlook on menu creation. “I’m thrilled to join the team here at Crane’s Mill. Crane’s Mill Celebrated Mardi Gras with Food and Fun For All!

Crane’s Mill Retirement Community treated guests to food, games, prizes, and more on Fat Tuesday! What a fun event! Guests and staff came together for an outstanding afternoon filled with food and fun for all. Executive Chef Peter Day offered up crawfish dip, crab cakes, muffuletta sandwiches, cajun shrimp skewers, and more. To wash it down? A virgin “Hurricane” beverage that was a fruity treat. Crane’s Mill Hosted Medical Program on Tremors

Crane’s Mill Retirement Community in West Caldwell, New Jersey, continues its successful series of learning sessions. Dr. Roger Kurlan (second from right), a board-certified neurologist and director of the movement disorders program at Atlantic Neuroscience Institute at Overlook Medical Center, delivered a presentation, Why Do I Shake – The causes, meaning and treatment of tremor, on February 10 at Crane’s Mill. Happy Halloween from Crane’s Mill

We just finished up our Halloween social here at Crane’s Mill Retirement Community! Staff members handed out candy and yummy baked desserts to residents in Towne Square while fun Halloween music filled the air. Residents got in the spirit, too.
