Tips from the Red Cross: Stay Safe During Tomorrow’s Snow Storm

Hopefully it’s the last winter storm of the season! It’s not unusual to have an early-to-mid-March snow storm—the old adage does say, it comes in like a Lion. Crane’s Mill Staff Members Unite to Face Winter Storm Juno

The West Caldwell, New Jersey Retirement Community prepares, bands together to ensure resident safety. Forecasters predicted winter storm Juno would produce blizzard conditions—including harsh winds and large amounts of loose, powdery snow—across most of New Jersey. Over 40 Crane’s Mill staff members from departments including nursing, maintenance, dining, housekeeping, and administration packed their bags and stayed overnight in order to serve our residents. This proactive strategy was executed to ensure a strong staff presence during this time of need and uncertainty. Did you know that Crane’s Mill residents enjoy the luxury of never having to shovel, scrape, or brush ever again? Each winter, our maintenance department and dedicated landscaping team are on stand-by at the first sign of a snowfall. For residents who park outside (there is garage parking available in Creekside and our cottages), our staff cleans off the resident’s car, cleans out the parking space, and puts the car back in the spot, ready for it’s next outing to the grandkids house or holiday shopping trip. Did you know? The Weather Channel now names its winter storms. This season, we’ve had Hercules, Maximus, and Nika. At Crane’s Mill Retirement Community, we’ve been naming winter storms for years. We call them “NO BIG DEAL.” Like most of us, this author will remember Winter 2013-2014 as a snowy, icy, and freezing cold season.
