Crane’s Mill, Journey Hospice Welcome Local Senior Living Professionals for Networking Event On Thursday, March 10, Crane’s Mill teamed up with Journey Hospice to welcome 60 area professionals to a special ‘March Madness’ networking event. The evening provided a chance for colleagues and contemporaries to share stories, exchange business cards, and have some fun. Amazing sandwiches, salads, and international cheeses were served along with wine, beer, and soft drinks. Five lucky attendees walked away with raffle prizes which included restaurant gift cards and wine baskets. Crane’s Mill Welcomes Secret Service Special Agent To Help Stop Scammers Crane’s Mill recently welcomed United States Secret Service Special Agent Scott Keenan. Special Agent Keenan presented a program on protecting ourselves and loved ones from scammers, discussing different online and phone scams and what to look out for. Did you know? Consumer Reports shared the following statistics on senior financial scams: Older people are swindled out of more than $3 billion each year. Guests filled Hinman Hall for ‘Thanksgiving Unstuffed,’ a special cooking demo hosted by Crane’s Mill executive chef Dominic Ackerman. Chef Dom walked the crowd through unique ideas for holiday leftovers including Turkey Pot Pie Soup, Turkey Endive Salad, and Thanksgiving Frittatas. Guests from all across northern New Jersey have grown accustomed to visiting Crane’s Mill each year to tour the community’s exceptional independent living retirement homes, the sprawling 48-acre campus, and our five-star rated Health Center. Lifelong Learning at Crane's Mill

Lifelong Learning Classes Offered for Crane’s Mill Residents

Each lecture is led by a local college professor who specializes in the given topic and visits Crane’s Mill for our residents’ benefit. Today, Crane’s Mill will residents begin the first of this season’s Lifelong Learning educational series. Consisting of six, two-hour lectures, the spring semester includes a variety of topics from history to the arts. The first lecture, presented by Drew University Literature professor Chris Nugent, will focus on “Arthurian Legends.” Residents will get take a scholarly look at King Arthur, the Round Table, and how these stories developed over the years. Crane’s Mill Residents Treated to Holiday Concert by West Caldwell Police Detective

Detective Mazzeo performed holiday favorites and provided info on keeping seniors safe from scams. Over 100 residents at Crane’s Mill Retirement Community in West Caldwell were treated to a festive holiday concert when Detective Paul Mazzeo of the West Caldwell Police Department shared his musical talents the evening of December 17. Combining traditional Christmas carols with stories and dialogue, residents were not only entertained but also educated about senior scams that target the elderly during the holiday season.
