Family Member Thanks Crane’s Mill for Excellent Care, Peace of Mind in Caring for Mother

“She and I had true happiness at the end of her life. Who could ask for more?”

When I researched Assisted Living Facilities for my mom, it was just after the peak of COVID, but COVID was still a concern. I was lucky to be told by one facility that they were not accepting new residents at the time; instead she recommended Crane’s Mill, as she previously worked there and thought it was excellent. A glowing recommendation from a competitor went a long way with me.

I began the conversation with Crane’s in August, first taking a virtual tour from a kind soul who walked me around the facility with her laptop. I liked what I saw. The decor was welcoming with very pretty design details. Months later, when my mom moved to Crane’s, the environment felt more like a relaxing tennis club with lovely grounds, rather than a medical facility. This put both my mom and me in good spirits.

Next, I started the process of asking all that was required of us, while I asked numerous follow-up questions via email. It was a challenge to understand everything during lockdown, but Crane’s Mill staff answered my many many questions patiently. At a certain point, Lisa Alfano, the new Director of Admissions, entered the conversation. She was so giving of her time. She even gave advice on how to begin “The Conversation” with my mom, as I was really afraid to bring it up, fearing that she would not like the idea of Assisted Living and moving anywhere. Lisa’s advice was wonderful and my mom had already thought about Assisted Living and agreed it was a sensible idea. Phew!

After my mom’s medical evaluation and more advice-seeking from her doctor and a few more people at Crane’s, we all decided that Skilled Nursing would better support my mom. They had in-house physical therapy! That was excellent. I took the leap of faith, but I felt confident they were the ones. What my mom and I found at Crane’s Mill surpassed all my hopes. There was an abundance of warmth and caring. She had a high level of care that was skilled and individualized. I am so thankful to everyone who cared for my mom.
