Did You Know? August is National Eye Exam Month

Healthy vision is a crucial part of the healthy aging equation.

We've all seen one of these...but do we all see the same letters?

Eye health is paramount to healthy aging. From driving and reading to simply having a conversation with friends and family, vision seems to play a role in all areas of our everyday lives.

The good thing about eye health is that prevention and early detection of potential problems can go a long way—which is precisely why we’re happy to recognize National Eye Exam Month in August.

Sometimes we don’t realize that our vision has deteriorated a bit since our last check-up, likely because it can be a gradual process. With this yearly reminder to visit the optometrist, we can all take a moment to take out our date books and schedule that appointment and nip any problems in the bud.

Crane’s Mill residents have the benefit of a number of friendly neighbors with a strong interest in healthy aging. Not all seniors have such a wonderful support system. If you know someone who needs help with healthy aging, encourage them to visit their doctor. Let’s all stay fit and active together!
