Residents Share Vacation Memories

We asked our residents to tell us about some of their favorite vacation memories. They’ve traveled far and wide, from the Jersey Shore to across the Atlantic, to the west coast and beyond. Here we take a look at a once-in-a-lifetime trip one resident took 67 years ago!

Thanks to Anna Bihun for sharing this exceptional vacation memory. We hope you enjoy reading as much as we have.

In the summer of 1948, future Crane’s Mill resident Anna Bihun took the trip of aTr lifetime—she spent a summer visiting family in Prague, Czechoslovakia.

Mrs. Bihun’s flight took off from Prague in July—with no meals served on board. To compensate, the plane landed for food (and likely fuel) in Newfounland, Shannon, Irelend, Belgium, Germany, and—finally—Prague.

Anna visited one week in Prague, and one week in a resort in the Tatra Mountains in the Carpathian Mountain Range.

The rest of the summer was spent in Slovakia—Bratislava City near Vienna, and nearby villages.

Mrs. Bihun visited her two grandmothers, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She reported a great climate including cool, refreshing nights.

It sounds like an amazing trip, and we are so happy that Anna could share her memories with us, and in turn, with you. Stay tuned—we hope to share more of our residents’ memories in the future.
