Crane’s Mill 15th Anniversary Photos and More!

Crane’s Mill residents celebrate 15 years as New Jersey’s top retirement destination!

Last night, residents and staff came together in Towne Square to celebrate the community’s 15th anniversary.

Cocktail hour began at 4:00, and saw cheese platters, charcuterie, brie en croute, and more. Plus the dining staff were attentive with an array of passed hors d’oeuvres including stuffed mushrooms, mozzarella and tomato skewers, Frenched lamb chops, fried shrimp with basil aioli, smoked salmon “bon bons,” and sliced beef on a baguette with horseradish sauce.

Before the dinner seating, Beth Sparling, our Executive Director and a staff member since Crane’s Mill opened its doors in 1998, gave an inspiring speech followed by a champagne toast. Her words reflected on chapters in a person’s life, and how each of us, while having lead very different lives, all have one very important thing in common: Crane’s Mill.

In one room we had former engineers, doctors, lawyers, accountants, school teachers and war veterans toasting alongside the Crane’s Mill staff, family members and friends. It’s a diverse group from a cultural, religious and age standpoint, but we all share a love for these 48 acres here in West Caldwell, New Jersey. In a sense, this community is home to us all.

In the spirit of bringing a group together, there is perhaps no better way to do so than sitting down for a good meal—and a good meal is what was served! Menu choices included Filet Mignon, Lobster Tails, Whole Lobster and Chicken Marsala.

After dinner, residents moved to Hinman Hall for an evening of live entertainment featuring theatrical choral ensemble, and resident favorite, The Mel-O-Chords.

Truly, yesterday was a very special day. It’s no wonder that our residents and staff hold these last 15 years in such high regard, and look forward to making the next 15 and beyond even better.
