Gallery: The Marriages of Jacob Book Signing

Author, poet, and Crane’s Mill resident Charlotte Mandel again took center stage in Hinman Hall to read passages from one of her acclaimed books.

The Marriages of Jacob is a Poem-Novella based on the Old Testament story of Jacob. Jacob, later named Israel, had two wives, Leah and Rebecca, and two concubines with whom he fathered a total of 12 sons–the 12 tribes of Israel–and one daughter.

Ms. Mandel’s book uses a combination of research and imagination to explore the women’s lives in more detail, including their individual experiences with childbirth.
