Crane’s Mill Resident Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Charlotte Mandel, a Crane’s Mill resident, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by Brooklyn College, her alma mater, on September 22nd. Charlotte describes this event as “One of the best days of my life.” Members of her family joined her at the event program and luncheon. Afterwards they visited the beautiful campus. Charlotte was amazed to see the tremendous oak tree growths in the 75 years since she graduated. She stood again on the steps of Boylan Hall, where on December 8th, 1941, she and other students heard broadcast the famous words of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, declaring the Pearl Harbor attack as “a day of infamy.”
