Lifelong Learning Classes Offered for Crane’s Mill Residents

Each lecture is led by a local college professor who specializes in the given topic and visits Crane’s Mill for our residents’ benefit. Today, Crane’s Mill will residents begin the first of this season’s Lifelong Learning educational series. Consisting of six, two-hour lectures, the spring semester includes a variety of topics from history to the arts. The first lecture, presented by Drew University Literature professor Chris Nugent, will focus on “Arthurian Legends.” Residents will get take a scholarly look at King Arthur, the Round Table, and how these stories developed over the years. Residents Celebrate Mardi Gras in Usual Upscale Style

Seniors living at Crane’s Mill enjoyed traditional Mardi Gras favorites, live music, and the company of fellow residents at their annual Mardi Gras party. One Tuesday, March 5, residents flocked to Hinman Hall for their annual Mardi Gras party. Live music filled the air through the great room’s newly-renovated sound system. Attendees even received strings of purple, gold, and green beads to mark the occasion. Nicole Smith, director of community programming, provided the details on the affair: “The food includes beignets, hush puppies, and Cajun shrimp. Examples include: The Telesensory Machine in our library magnifies text and images up to 50 times to help those with low vision or vision impairment. The Hearing Loop in Hinman Hall amplifies sound directly into a person’s hearing aid, so residents can better hear guest speakers, musicians, and more. Crane’s Mill is a Certified Wildlife Habitat. Here’s more on that certification, and what it means to our residents. We are proud to share that Crane’s Mill is a Certified Wildlife Habitat. We have signs posted on our campus that read: “This habitat is certified in the National Wildlife Federation’s worldwide network of mini-refuges. Pianist/Singer/Narrator Fred Miller presents his musical & anecdotal overview of the great American songwriter’s life & career. On Tuesday, January 15, residents will be treated to a wonderful musical lecture presented by Fred Miller. In this special presentation, Mr. Miller will focus on the life’s work of Jerome Kern.
