Gearing up for Summer at our Retirement Community

How will New Jersey seniors make the most out of the summer months ahead?

Summer can be hot, humid, sunny, and sometimes dangerous. As the weather heats up and the suns rays beat down, it’s important to stay cool and hydrated.

On very hot days, try and run your errands in the early morning to avoid the head of the day. If you feel yourself overheating, duck inside a store, mall, library, museum, or even catch a movie! Taking some time out of the heat and into the air conditioner can go a long way to keeping you going when the sun is scorching.

It’s also crucial to drink plenty of water. When you sweat, you lose key fluids and other nutrients that need to be replaced in your body. So carry a water bottle, and be sure to take frequent time-outs to eat small meals or snacks throughout the day. Plus, with so much fresh fruit in season, it’s a great way to eat your old favorites or nosh on something new.

For seniors living at Crane’s Mill, summertime is a cinch. Towne Square, the community’s main spot for dining, socialization, exercise, our indoor pool, and more, is a short, indoor walk from every Crane’s Mill apartment. So there’s no need to brave the heat to get to meals, entertainment, or your afternoon bridge game.

If residents need to get out for a bit (doctor appointments, shopping, errands, etc.), they can hop on the Crane’s Mill bus or van for an air-conditioned jaunt.
