All About Successful Aging

Crane’s Mill, a senior living community in Essex County, New Jersey, is committed to the successful aging of its residents.

A Crane’s Mill resident uses the Telesensory Machine in our library.

The Crane’s Mill staff is continuously searching for new ways to ensure our residents are able to stay active and healthy throughout their retirement.

There are examples of this type of commitment to successful aging all around the campus. For instance, in our library, there is a Telensory Machine, which magnifies text and images in books up to 50 times their original size. This machine was brought to Crane’s Mill in part because of our resident low vision support group and their dedication to ensuring that people with vision impairment can still enjoy books, magazines, and other printed materials.

Another great example is the Hearing Loop technology installed in Hinman Hall. Here’s a link to an article that provides more details about the technology, and how Crane’s Mill uses it to keep our residents and guests “in the loop.”

We’ve heard of many more great things to come in the area of successful aging, and we’ll be sure to post about them right here on the Crane’s Mill Courier as we learn more.
