Fall Cooking Demo—Thanksgiving Comes Early This Year at Crane’s Mill

Imagine watching your favorite cooking show…and being able to smell and taste the food!

Yesterday afternoon at Crane’s Mill, a lucky group of residents and guests were able to do exactly that at our special Fall Cooking Demo. Hosted by our Executive Chef Peter Day, those in attendance enjoyed a fun, interactive demonstration complete with a sample of each delicious course. The event was a fun way to get just a taste of the excellent dining experience at New Jersey’s top location for senior living.

The meal started with a silky-smooth Sweet Potato Soup made with a touch of nutmeg and topped off with creme fraiche and toasted pumpkin seeds. Next up was a moist and juicy sauteed turkey breast with sage turkey gravy. The crowd favorite of the day? A traditional bread stuffing made with fresh and dried cranberries. Fresh and colorful roasted pattypan squash rounded out the entree.

For dessert, Chef Peter crafted a pumpkin cheesecake mousse with pumpkin bread biscotti and crumbled ginger snaps. Residents raved, and requested that the dessert be added to fall menu selections at the Candleberry Dining Room.

Being a small community (under 300 people live at Crane’s Mill), residents have direct access to the Executive Chef. He knows our residents’ likes, dislikes and food allergies. So does the dining staff. It truly is special to have such a close-knit community.

Make sure you don’t miss the next cooking demo at our center stage in the Candleberry. Call us at 973-276-3001 or click here to send us an email. We would love to hear from you. In the meantime, please enjoy these fun photos from yesterday’s event:
